Attention: Summer Activity Enthusiasts

Have you ever been doing some gardening or yardwork and noticed that every time you stand up from a crouched position, you feel a little dizzy? And to make matters worse, it seems to get even worse as the day goes on. Well, guess what? Dehydration might be sneaking up on you, and by the time you realize it, you're already in deep trouble.

Now, here's the kicker: dehydration doesn't require scorching hot weather to strike. I once experienced the worst case of dehydration after climbing a mountain in the dead of winter. Sweating like a maniac, freezing my buns off, and still managing to dehydrate myself!

Now, you might be thinking, "Water is the answer, right?" Well, you're partially correct. Water is indeed crucial, and I hope you're already aware of that. But at this point, you need more.

Remember, even a slight bout of dizziness means you're already in trouble. You need electrolytes, and you needed them a while ago! Electrolytes include sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, and magnesium. You can easily lose a teaspoon of salt or more in a short span of time, and you don't even have to break a sweat! (But replacing only salt—sodium chloride—is only part of the equation.)

But wait! Your health is important, so don't just grab a bottle of colored sugar water. Say no to anything with added sugar, like Gatorade, and anything with colors that belong in a unicorn's rainbow.

We want the good stuff, the quality stuff. Here are three fantastic options to quench your thirst and keep you going strong:

1. Electro-pH (Apex Energetics)* - Caramel Flavored

2. Electrolyte Forte (Biotics Research)* - Watermelon Flavored

3. Hammer Fizz Endurolytes* - They come in various flavors.

Are there other good options out there? Sure thing! The market is filled with them. But the key is NO ADDED SUGARS AND NO COLORS! (Not even for the kids!)

Oh, and here's a fun fact: I've discovered through years of looking at bloodwork that many folks are already dehydrated even before they step foot outside for any activity. That's why most people could benefit from some electrolytes on a daily basis. Of course, we can discuss your specific needs individually.

But for now, my friends, I just wanted to share this little nugget of summertime wisdom to keep you healthy and thriving this summer!

Cheers to Summer!

Dr. Julie

P.S. If you want me to take a peek at the ingredient label of your electrolytes and give it a thumbs up (or down), text me a pic at 928-260-4747 (and don't forget to mention your name).

*Electro-pH and Electrolyte Forte are available through our online store. Hammer Fizz Endurolytes can be found at select health food stores and at Sportman & Ski Haus in Montana.
